Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust Specify Leca® Flower in 50L Bags

Leca Flower was recently specified by the Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust for a raingarden for the Tuffley Court Community Association (TCCA). The material was specified to fit around a land grain pipe to facilitate a new garden feature for the community. This was supplied in 50L lightweight bags which weigh only 15kg per bag – allowing for easy installation.

Heather Moore from the Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust said “We decided to use Leca Flower predominantly due to the lightweight nature of the material. We use it as a substrate to surround a land-drain pipe, and normally use stones which are incredibly heavy, and also tend to come unwashed which then puts pollutants into the water we have just filtered by the plants and soil. Therefore, Leca LWA’s way easier to use, and doesn’t add sediment to water which would run off into the waterways and cause problems for wildlife.”

The Saint-Gobain group has set itself the goal of being carbon neutral by 2050, but Leca, a member of the group has decided to reach the goal by 2035 and this was reflected in the decision of the Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust to specify Leca Flower for this project “Leca Flower is Environmentally sound, natural, high water-holding capacity, and lightweight.”
