Over 1300m3 of LECA® LWA has been specified as a lightweight backfill solution against abutment walls of a new pumping station in South Yorkshire.

It was discovered that differing levels would create long term groundwork issues - giving rise to a large horizontal resultant force. Horizontal piles were proposed – but LECA® LWA was discovered to offer a more cost effective and innovative solution - providing a light density fill but with the correct properties to be able to carry the live load surcharge.
