We recently revisited Salford Rise in Greater Manchester

We recently revisited Salford Rise in Greater Manchester, where over 3,000m³ of Leca® Lightweight Aggregate (LWA) was specified in the construction of a new elevated bridge walkway.

Leca® LWA was specified to overcome major ground‑work challenges by:
- Reducing settlement and structural loading
- Mitigating long‑term risks such as sliding, tilting, and bearing failure
- Enabling faster installation to shorten time on site

This footbridge will enhance connectivity and act as a key gateway between the University of Salford’s campus and the Crescent innovation zone - a green and safe haven for pedestrians and cyclists.

The project is partially funded by £13.17m from the Government’s Levelling Up Fund.

This ambitious project is accelerating rapidly and we are pleased to see the progress so far…. 👏
