Salford Rise Project Specifies 3,000m3 of Leca® Lightweight Aggregate (10-20mm)
We are proud to be part of the ambitious Salford Rise development, where over 3,000m³ of Leca® Lightweight Aggregate (LWA) has been specified for the construction of a new elevated bridge walkway.
The project will remove physical barriers and enhance connectivity between communities north of the Crescent and the The University of Salford - representing a major step in transforming the area into a vibrant innovation district.
Appointed main contractor Eric Wright Group is currently leading the initial delivery phase and Leca® LWA was selected for the bridge abutments due to challenging ground conditions - offering a 75% weight reduction over traditional fill. This will significantly reduce pressure on the structure, mitigating long-term risks such as sliding, tilting and bearing failure - whilst rapidly accelerating installation - reducing costs and increasing design efficiencies.
Partially funded by a £13.17m Levelling Up Fund grant, Salford Rise is set to become a catalyst for economic growth and social cohesion.
We’re very excited to see how Leca® LWA contributes towards this visionary urban development.
